The West Coast Ocean Alliance’s new five-year Strategic Plan (2026-2031) was finalized in June, as approved by the WCOA Membership Council. WCOA developed this five-year Strategic Plan to guide their activities in 2026-2031. This Strategic Plan reflects WCOA members’ shared priorities and desired focus
areas.
The goals of the Strategic Plan include:
- strengthening coordination, foster collaboration, and support efficiency and effectiveness among Tribal, State, and Federal members to advance shared priorities for ocean and coastal stewardship;
- recognizing Tribal sovereignty as a foundational principle of regional ocean and coastal stewardship, uplifting Tribal rights, treaties, leadership, and shared governance;
- advancing the development and integration of regional ocean data, science, and monitoring to inform effective management of priority ocean and coastal resources; and
- building support by engaging key partners and increasing awareness of WCOA priorities and activities.
